History of White River (Uintah), Utah
Courtesy of Utah Place Names.

The White River (Uintah) enters from Colorado and drains into the Green River at the south end of the Wonsits Valley south of Ouray. The 1776 Dominguez-Escalante expedition called it the El Rio de San Clemente. Later the Spaniards named it the Rio Blanco, which was eventrually anglicized to White River.
